Ever Wanted to Learn Another Language?

Well, if you have chosen to learn Vietnamese you're a brave person indeed. Vietnamese is one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn.

I can personally vouch for this....

...This is because my Vietnamese girlfriend thought it would be a good idea for me to learn Vietnamese so that I can talk with her family.

So when the company I work for offered free Vietnamese lessons to all the foreigners working in the Saigon office I readily accepted.

This was about a year ago, so after a years hard work have I progressed?

Not really! My girlfriend's family still has no idea what I am trying to say to them when I speak Vietnamese!

Not to be discouraged though, even the smallest amount of Vietnamese can go a long way in getting to know the locals.

And my attempts at speaking Vietnamese have provided the locals with hours of entertainment at my expense!

Some Phrases I Have Found Useful

Tôi không sẵn sàng làm đám cưới - I'm not ready for marriage.

Em là con khỉ qiậy quá - You're a naughty monkey.

Ngu như bò - Stupid as a cow.
